SALISES Graduate Research Scholarships


The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at the University of the West Indies, Mona, is encouraging qualified applicants to apply for five (5) graduate research scholarships, tenable at SALISES, Mona.

Potential candidates should:

  1. Be registered in the MPhil/PhD programme at SALISES;
  2. Have obtained an ‘A’ grade in two out of the three qualifying MPhil/PhD courses and have passed all three courses in the same sitting;
  3.  Have received a strong recommendation from their MPhil/PhD supervisor.
Scholarships will be offered only for the thesis research and writing phase of the programme. Scholarships will be offered for one year in the first instance, with the option of a second year if the student, supported by their supervisor, provides significant evidence of progress.  For the second year, special consideration in extending funding will be given to students who, supported by their supervisors, provide evidence of the likelihood of completion by the end of the second year.

Scholarships are valued at J$100,000 per month or $J1.2 million per annum.
